Great experience cooking Paella! I really wanted to do a cooking class in Barcelona but some are very expensive and don’t have availability. I was really pleased to find this... read more class via airbnb experiences. It offered a very authentic experience at a reasonable cost. The location is a bit further away from the city centre but personally we enjoyed that as it is good to explore local neighbourhoods in Barcelona. Eladi recommended visiting park Guell or the bunkers as they are located nearby. We had already visited the park so went to the bunkers which made for a nice day out. The class was fun and friendly and the Paella was delicious! We weren’t drinking alcohol and Eladi accommodated us by providing a great alternative to Sangria. A really lovely way to learn to cook Paella in a sociable environment.

This was a highlight; I will and so will my daughter and her son, remember this forever as one of our peak experiences. Eladi is super organized from his accurate... read more directions to his advance layout of all ingredients and he is a story telller and a master paella maker who truly cares to ensure his guests are happy. the place itself is an experience - push a door and you are in a cavern of a cellar with a long table, laid ready for you and a paella cooker at the end. As you enter, he asks that you wash your hands first and then. Put on an apron so that you can participate in cooking one three dishes together, family style. He is a master of making friends meet new friends and feel immediately comfortable in the warmth of sharing cooking. I most heartily recommend.

Initially I registered for another paella cooking class, but it was cancelled a day before the class. I looked online and and was glad that i managed to find this... read more class. It was an excellent class! Anna is a very passionate and articulate teacher, and she shared with us all about Spanish cooking. She prepared a drink Sangria with red wine, a dessert crema catalana ( which involves a blow torch), and chicken, prawn and green bean paella. As there was one participant which was vegetarian, we also had a smaller pan of artichoke paella which was delicious. (so its good that you go with a vegeterian! Haha) This class is interactive as for each step Anna would demonstrate and then someone could volunteer to take over. At the end of the class I purchased the wooden spoons we ate with :) I saw that they also had "pimento la vera" and saffron for purchase, but I had already got that on my trip to Granada, a few days ago.
